Improving energy efficiency through the use of heat pumps at HEINEKEN ROMANIA S.A.'s breweries in Craiova and Ungheni-Mureș.

Investment to optimize energy consumption and reduce emissions.

Project description:

The project aimed to improve energy performance at HEINEKEN ROMANIA S.A. by implementing modern energy-efficiency solutions at the breweries in Craiova and Ungheni-Mureș.

The investment involved the installation of high-efficiency heat pumps, with the aim of optimizing energy consumption and reducing greenhouse gas emissions, thereby helping to improve the energy performance of industrial processes. The project was carried out under the PNRR – Investment Measure I5: Ensuring energy efficiency in the industrial sector.

  • The main challenge was to fine-tune the budget structure as early as the feasibility study phase. Implementation through an integrated EPC contract highlighted the fact that, although this type of contract allows for overall optimization of resources, the scope for subsequent budget adjustments is limited.

In this context, the accuracy of the cost estimate played a crucial role in the smooth implementation of the project, as a cost estimate that closely reflected actual costs directly contributed to the smooth progress of the subsequent project phases.
