Construction of a photovoltaic park to meet self-consumption needs at Nokian Oradea.
An investment aligned with carbon footprint reduction goals.
Project description:
The project involved an investment consisting of the purchase of specific equipment and services for the development of a photovoltaic power plant intended for industrial self-consumption.
The main objective was to improve energy efficiency by generating electricity from renewable sources for on-site consumption, reducing the carbon footprint, and decreasing dependence on the national grid. The investment was financed through the Modernization Fund – Key Program 1: Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Storage.
- The main challenge of the self-consumption solar park at Nokian Oradea was both time-sensitive and strategic: aligning the procurement and installation schedule with the requirements of the FM Autoconsum program so that the implementation would ensure the eligibility of the expenses. Nokian Tyres’ commitment to transforming the factory into a facility with a minimal carbon footprint required the procurement process to begin immediately after the application was submitted, in compliance with the rule prohibiting the start of work before the aid is granted, as per Regulation (EU) No. 651/2014. Sizing the fleet in relation to the consumption profile was the key technical factor for a competitive score, where reducing CO₂ emissions and covering consumption from renewable sources are decisive indicators.
